MINIATURE BEAUTIES
Wildly elegant and gracefully formed these little Crested Iris are charming all who catch a glimpse of them on the forest floor. I think they look like royalty visiting and being seen by the likes of all us ordinary folks.
Beth, Iris of any size strikes me as the most elegant design for a flower. Every variety of flower has amazing aspects from simple four petals to lush roses and peonies, but the Iris always steals my heart.
Very sweet. The first bloom in my garden each year seems to be a little wild iris, but only one or two each year. I love the exuberance of your little patch of iris!
Aisling, Some years all we see are singles and pairs here and there. This year it looks like they decided to throw a party up close to the house. Don't know if the patch will grow or disapear next year.
Gilly, Yes, indeed these little cuties are wild as they can be. I'm sure people include them in landscaping but the picture is of our woods and they pop up all through the area as volunteers.
Welcome to my spot in this virtual world of the internet.
We are each traveling on our personal journey but it is nice to be able to talk and walk together for awhile. If you care to leave a note I will be sure to respond as soon as I can.
This is a place to think out loud, to explore those things that interest me and to ramble on about whatever strikes my fancy at the moment.
I'm in my seventh decade and just delighted to be here. I live in the country just outside a small mountain town in Tennessee. I quilt, I am a Tai Chi player, I sing in our church choir, I am a Hospice volunteer.
I'm blogging to keep up with a couple of my children and their children.

Ooooh, this is a BEAUTIFUL photo. It fills my eyes, which, as you know is the greatest compliment I can give.
Makes my fingers itch for my pencils and pens...

Beautiful. At one time I had some. I forgot about them. Thank you for sharing and bringing them to mind.
Ernestine,
So glad you stopped by. I hope all is well in your beautiful corner of the world.
They are beautiful! Never seen any dwarf irises like that? Are they wild?
Come to that, never seen wild irises, either!
