SUNDAY STROLL - COZY AND WARM

This is how I like my winters these days. I'm on the inside looking out. Once upon a time I preferred it the other way around. I would go downtown to Detroit to ice skate or just outside to catch snowflakes on my tongue and lay down to create snow angels just for fun. But back then I wore snowsuits, mittens, a hat and muffler and warm cozy boots and I was 12 years old.
These days I find my pleasure with fabric, nature walks and story books. Here is my latest project in the quilt studio, I've finished basting my quilt together and will quilt it later. But for now off I go.
I hurry away from all of this undoubtedly lovely scenery to the warmth of my reading chair. Doing my part for global warming I'm going to cuddle deep into my chair, sip my coffee, put a quilt to good use and provide a lap for a little warm bodied feline who never passes up a chance to sleep on a friendly lap.

I'm just about to time travel back to the days of the French Revolution in England where there are spies and French refugees and serial murders all tied up with star struck astronomers who are also musicians. I'm reading the novel "Music of the Spheres" by Elizabeth Redfern and she has me hooked. I love music, star gazing and a good murder mystery.
So just before I disapear into my book may I encourage you to see if anyone else is really strolling out and about the good earth. Stroller meet at Aisling's Country House.

My stroll will probably be mostly from the inside looking out too. It is bitterly cold and windy!

I love your cozy spots... Your chair with the quilt and cuddly feline buddy looks particularly inviting.

This is the chair where I usually settle to read. Early in the morning I keep my feet flat on the floor to meditate. I like my comfort even when I transcend reality. Sitting on the floor cross legged never made sense to me.
I kick back to read novels and such and if it is evening the mug is exchanged for a china cup and tea of some sort.

Wow! Your quilts are amazing! I had a big case of cabin fever so I took a stroll outside today... but I think I would have much preferred to be under a quilt with my kitties and a good book. :-)

A book, a sweet cat, cozy quilt and something warm to sip is a favorite activity for me. I'm glad you like my quilts. They are simple and homey, just what I like to create.

Your basket of books - looks similar to what I keep by my chair. Also I keep a basket of special books on my nightstand.
I always put one of my mother's quilts in my lap when I read. She made me several lap quilts. Gave 2 to the children - wish I had not. But I still have one. I love it and it makes me think of her. She passed away 9 years ago a week from now.
Stay warm!!

Ernestine,
Once again we weave our common threads and interests. I keep an old personal journal by my bed to scan and review. I'm always surprised to remember what I felt when I wrote something. It's an interesting effect. I also like to see if I have changed, grown or still believe what I wrote.

You look so cosy there, and its such a beautiful quilt. I hope that lovely cat appreciates it!

I love your cosy place, and those pictures are just breathtaking! Especially the one where the ice feathers the windows--is that ice?

Anyhow--I love the warmth of your home and your smile. If you lived next door I'd invite you over for a cup of hot tea.

Gilly,
I do love to snuggle down cozy with a cat or two. GiGi and KiKi will wake up and move if hubby or I sit down and make a lap, they're absolutely sure we do it just for them.

Beth,
If we were neighbors I'd be there in a heartbeat. I'm afraid what you saw through the window were the soft tips of the Hemlock trees covered with snow out in the yard. It was very pretty looking out from the warmth of the sewing room.
