SUNDAY STROLL - HERE AND THERE

Picking up where I left off the other day with our patch of little wild Iris lets head on over to the strange---
I discovered this odd looking growth on a small pine trunk. Some parasitic alien thing which circles the tree, but doesn't seem to be harming it at the moment.
Phlox shinning on a little hill.

Sweet shrub is blooming.

Hosta is filling in for the summer and soon will give the daffodils rest and shade taking the eye away from the daffy stems which are dying back.

The evergreens were wonderful touches of green relieving the tiresome dull grays of winter and now are setting their new growth.

The side of the garage is garnished with the sweet smell and sight of Lily of the Valley.

Bluets and cinquefoils make pretty ground cover.

My winter over plant started blooming a month ago and has been back on the front porch for a week or so after living in my sewing room during the winter.
Everywhere I look there are sights and sound that catch my attention and send me off in every direction trying to see and experience everything all at once. Silly me. I think I know better. I will slow my pace, settle down to one thing at a time and enjoy the leisure of being in the moment.

Follow me for other strolls at The Quiet Country House.

SUNDAY STROLL - SPRINGY

I've got that bouncy, springy kind of feeling that flings me out the door and into the yard to see what winter has brought in the way of tree pruning and flower nurturing. And what to my wondering eyes has finally appeared ( I've been checking this patch of ground for weeks) but the glorious yellow of early spring ----- buttercups -----------jonquils -----------daffodils
call them what you may. They bob their heads and say "Hello Spring" I'm so ready.

The Yellow Flicker sings and I hear a call back from somewhere in the woods. Is is courting time?

The winter winds were busy pruning and lightening the tree tops of weak unsteady branches.

The burn pile is filled with the riff-raff of pruning. Most of what fell in the woods will lay where it fell to do the natural building of the forest floor and create shelter and food for all that lives and forms a forest habitat. What you see here was cleared from the front and side yards.

A little tidying is called for here.

One more shout of SPRING from the Daffodils and I'm done.

Head on over to Aisling's comfy home place for more Sunday Strolls.

SUNDAY STROLL Anthropomorphism

I swear when I stepped outside this morning the table and chairs were quieting down from some waking up activity. They remember their ancestors, the trees, who sleep through the winter and they follow that tradition. Of course, they no longer have to worry about sap rising or sinking and their roots are long gone, Ah, but their memories keep them in season.
I think all the morning exercises roused the grill and we may have to comfort it by grilling some vegies here soon.Out in the yard the horseshoes are rattling against the backboard wondering when the picnics are going to start. Nothing better to stir up the earth energies than iron sailing through the air to grab onto the ringing pole.
The Firepit has seen some activity during the winter, but a big blaze and a drumming circle with songs around the the fire gives life and love to this circle. It can't happen soon enough.

(You may have to enlarge this picture to see the buds that were set last fall.)
The Dogwood stretches and the sap stirs. Spring will come again. The zero temperature last week and the 60' today get everything pumping and moving. She sings to the earth and the earth and her creatures listens

Here come the Buttercups, Daffidils to some of you. They are rushing to beat the other early risers. We'll soon see who wins.

The Wild Onions are flaunting their growth and joining nature in rejoicing and praise to the fullfillment of God's promise of heaven on earth. May all the people say Amen
Be sure to stroll on over to the Quiet Country House for more strolling and visiting.
