Oh no, black snakes are not poisonous. This fine fellow is a very worthy small animal pest control. We also have heard that they keep the poisonous snakes away. We sure hope so because there are poison copperhead and rattle snakes in this part of the country. Never see them, only Mr. Black.
Beth, Me too on likeing snakes. I have never been afraid of snakes. As a child in Michigan I played with little garter snakes. I thought they made cute arm bands. Here in Tennessee you learn to be a cautious walker and hand weeder because we do have poison snakes here.
Welcome to my spot in this virtual world of the internet.
We are each traveling on our personal journey but it is nice to be able to talk and walk together for awhile. If you care to leave a note I will be sure to respond as soon as I can.
This is a place to think out loud, to explore those things that interest me and to ramble on about whatever strikes my fancy at the moment.
I'm in my seventh decade and just delighted to be here. I live in the country just outside a small mountain town in Tennessee. I quilt, I am a Tai Chi player, I sing in our church choir, I am a Hospice volunteer.
I'm blogging to keep up with a couple of my children and their children.

Do you think KIKI knows that snakes
can bite?
Well, maybe. She didn't go very close.
I assume that isn't a poisonous snake??
We've only really got two snakes in the UK, and they are more afraid of us and slither away - hopefully! One can give a nasty bite, but rarely fatal.
But I know the USA is different - so I do wonder!

I like your Mr. Black! Kiki is one wise kitty to keep his distance! Not that a snake his size could ever eat a cat that size, eh?
I kind of like snakes--the garden variety type--unpoisonous, that is!
